Maybe One or Two at a Time

Elizabeth sent these yesterday. She and Roxie and I had many adventures together in several states., on numerous lakes and rivers.

This is Roxie in the front of Elizabeth’s boat on the Yellowstone River:

And she snapped this one on Trillium Lake on the south face of Mount Hood a couple of summers ago:

Over-Lapping

Three years ago for my 75th birthday I bought Dolly. Roxie was ten and I said I always want my dogs to over-lap so I won’t ever be bereft. Let me just say that is a monumental task, not letting me be bereft, but Dolly is doing her best. Staying right here next to me.

It was was a good idea. Getting a dog is always a good idea. And their loving companionship and fun are so worth the heartbreak when they leave us behind as they always must.

An album of Roxie will follow when I can. For now, I’m taking comfort in this:

February 1, 2021

It’s February! How did that happen?

The beautiful amaryllis is still holding forth.

Changed the Yellowstone calendar.

Put out the heart stuff.

And thinking of baking the cookies on this rainy day. The picture below is of cookies Meg and I made about 25 years ago. She drove home from Berkeley.

Celebrate anything you can think of, even if you have to celebrate alone.

Tomorrow is Ground Hog Day and I can guarantee, no rodent will see his shadow here.

Now that’s something to celebrate!

Three Cheers!

It’s been a long time since many people in my neighborhood have flown the red, white, and blue, thinking it might indicate that they supported a regime they did not.

Today as I walked Roxie around my neighborhood, this is what I saw just around my block:

 “You’re a grand old flag

You’re a high-flying flag

And forever in peace may you wave

You’re the emblem ofThe land I love

The home of the free and the brave

Ev’ry heart beats true

Under red, white and blue

Where there’s never a boast or brag

But should old acquaintance be forgot

Keep your eye on the grand old flag.”
